I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but after spending a long-weekend in both Browns Tavistock and 22 Mill Street Chagford, I've felt compelled to do so! Both hotels manage to combine the extremely rare ability to be able to provide exceptional food, accommodation, with the best service imaginable. Always friendly, obliging and professional. The tasting menus are a must! The signature venison dish is worth traveling many-a-mile for, and we have. Its exceptional value too..............
I'd urge anyone looking for somewhere for a weekend retreat to visit either hotels, but be warned - you will not want to leave, and keep coming back! This is a unreserved and unconditional recommendation for an outstanding boutique hotel, with some of the finest food available!  A special thanks to John for the magic he creates in his kitchen, to Steve and Matt for there attention to detail and local knowledge! Thanks again, Dave Walsh & Danielle Martin

Helena - Now back in Chichester so just wanted to drop you a brief note to say thank you very much indeed for making Mum's 80th birthday do a great success. I think we ordered about right and the food was all excellent and a number of comments were made to me. So thanks once again and please pass my thanks to Matt and everyone there who helped Mum celebrate.
We went on till about midnight I believe at the Who'da Thought It in Milton Combe and took it easy on Sunday.

I would like to compliment you on a superb dining experience at your restauarant yesterday, April 24th. The restaurant itself was a joy to eat in, the service and attention just perfect, and the food, sublime. We do not "fine dine" on too many occasions, but this was memorable, and the best I can remember! We hope and expect very much to see you again.

Thank you so much for ensuring that everything ran so smoothly for us, many of my guests said that it was the best wedding that they'd ever been to. Ted and I have just returned home after a wonderful weekend at Browns Tavistock.  The food was exquisite, hotel spotlessly clean and the staff were excellent.

We both wanted to say what a fantastic wedding day we had at Browns. We were so pleased with everything on the day. Your staff were all lovely, the food was absolutely gorgeous (all of our guests said the same) and the venue was perfect.  I had been unwell and a bit stressed leading up to the day and was so pleased that I was able to relax and totally enjoy the day.  The music provided by Adam was ideal, and it was great that he was able to come along earlier as it really enhanced the atmosphere.  It was a lovely end to the day to go back to the room that you had decorated so beautifully for us. Thank you so much for ensuring that everything ran so smoothly for us, many of my guests said that it was the best wedding that they'd ever been to. 

Hello Laura,  Thank you all so much for looking after us the way you did last Tuesday evening.   We enjoyed every minute we spent with you.  A wonderful dinner in your restaraunt, an excellent nights sleep in a lovely room and we were sent on our way with a lovely continental breakfast.

Thank you for sending us details on Goose Fair and the Dickensian Fair in December.  We will look at these dates as soon as we can sought out our diary.

Just a quick note to you, and of course the rest of the team, for all your help with our stay last week, and the week before. It was all very easy and pleasant and made our work in the area so much better.
From a personal point of view I was starting to feel a bit like part of the fixtures and fixings and it was as well that I did leave or I may have been there for ever!
We may not be down again for a while but when we are I am sure we will stay at Brown's again.
